You have to experience Colourscape to fully understand it. Colourscape cannot be simply explained and photographs will only provide a glimpse of the adventure. Colourscape will sharpen your senses, awaken creativity and expand the way you experience colour. Colour has energy that can be seen and felt and so Colourscape will be like swimming in colours.

Colourscape will be made up of approximately one hundred colourful sphere-like chambers linked together into a giant labyrinth. The audience will be able to walk through and spend time in the chambers listening to music performances or just being there. Colourscape is like a giant network of cells or interconnected chambers that bend the colours of light into an intensive celebration – truly a kaleidoscope of colours. You will only discover your absolute favourite colour after you visit Colourscape.

Eye Music Trust from the UK will return with Colourscape to Finland again this summer. The group specialises in producing audiovisual experiences. The programme of Colourscape Turku announced - Wide variety of local music and amazing colours!

After the amazing success of the first-ever appearance of Colourscape in a Nordic country during Turku’s European Capital of Culture year 2011 this unique experience returns to Kupittaa Park in Turku July 17th – August 5th. The programme of the colour labyrinth is again diverse and presents especially local music this year.

Colourscape is made up of approximately one hundred highly-coloured sphere-like chambers linked together into a giant labyrinth. Colourscape is like a giant network of cells that bends the spectrum of light into an intensive celebration of colours.  The public put on a coloured cape and enter into a new world of sound and colour where amazing views of radiating colour open up in every direction - like being actually inside a rainbow or stained glass window.

Live concerts are organized in Colourscape from Wednesday to Sunday and workshops combining colour, light and music on Tuesdays and Wednesdays. The music programme has been designed in co-operation with local partners, for instance Turku Modern and Ilmiö Festivals and The X-Rust Organization.

Also the hugely popular colour immersion workshops for the babies return to Kupittaa Park. In these workshops also the smallest members of the family have the opportunity to enjoy with their parents the beautiful colours of Colourscape.

The audience can experience for instance The X-Rust Organization’s synth jamming sessions (August 1st), special needs children’s performance of their music created with computers with the help of musician David Stevens (July 25th), atmospherical choir performance by noted Slavonic Tractor (July 18th) and flashbacks from Turku Modern festival.

Last year the response of the public in Finland enthusiastic with over 15 000 visitors to Colourscape. Eye Music Trust from the UK brings Colourscape to Finland for the second time in co-operation with Bryggman Institute. The group specializes in producing audiovisual experiences. The event is a continuation of the 2011 European Capital of Culture year in Turku.

If you missed Colourscape last year - or if you want more of the amazing colour, light and music - then come to Kupittaa Park this July.  Come early to avoid the queues!

In 2007, Slavonic Tractor visited Bulgaria and performed at a festival organized by the legendary ensemble Bisserov Sisters. The choir has also participated in several choir competitions, winning first prize in Coleraine, Northern Ireland in 2006 and Pärnu, Estonia in 2008. *Workshops in Colourscape
In colour and music workshops the true meaning of colour and music can be studied, Mongolian Overtone Singing can be learned and the links between sound and music, art and science – and the power of vibrations can be discovered.
In colour immersion workshops intended for families with small babies, colours are studied and encountered as a multisensory experience. What does a colour feel like, how does it sound or taste? Getting to know colours and visual frolicking takes place in a peaceful and encouraging environment, at the baby's own pace, and the whole family participates in observing the colour. Most important in the colour immersion workshop is experiencing, marvelling and finding what is new. The materials used are everyday day objects, for example, pillows, cardboard boxes, fabrics, and balloons. In the Colourscape colour immersion workshops, the idea is to focus on experiencing the colours of the space and strengthen the experience with different solid materials; usually, there is also painting in the workshops, using berries and fools as colours.
Colourscape colour immersion workshops are for children aged 3-11 months and 1-2 year-olds. It is important that the baby can support his/her own head. A colour immersion workshop is based on the colour immersion method developed by Päivi Setälä, Director of the Network of Children´s Culture in Satakunta, Pori Centre for Children´s Culture.
